I'm incredibly thankful to have been invited to participate in the Draw show at Auguste Clown Gallery. They're an awesome Low Brow/ Pop Surrealist gallery in Melbourne, Australia. (My first international show!) Having showed loads of fantastic artists like Mark Ryden, Tara McPherson, Charlie Immer, Dan May, Maria Rozalia Finna and a whole lot more!

Important announcement!

It's been a wonderful year. I couldn't be any more thankful for your support and kind words! However, i'll be closing my shop down (and going on blogging hiatus) for a while. One month, two, three? I'm not sure.

I haven't made this decision lightly. I've been mulling it over for a long time. I need a break from technology, more time to get out there to live, and space to experiment. I'm pretty damn close to burning out and instead of continuing to go i will heal.

SO, there will be one last sale. Grab what you want now because i won't be back for a while! I'll also be discontinuing most, if not all, of the current prints. If you can't afford to, please spread the word. Every little bit of help is appreciated.

This piece is going in Bear and Bird's Starter Art Show on May 5th! Glad to have it done early so I can concentrate on my move out west!

I'm looking forward to hanging out with my surrealist painter buddy tomorrow. One that needs a website of her own, hint hint! Hoping some of our weirdness inspires each other.

Feels surreal making my rounds and visiting friends, knowing I won't see them for a really long time. If i haven't mentioned before, it's kind of official now. I'm moving to California. (I currently live near Baltimore).

The west has been calling me for years, so it really doesn't feel like I'm really going. I'll know I've arrived when it's winter and i don't have to shovel snow.

Pony Anarchy Magazine

I was extremely smitten the moment my eyes had laid on Pony Anarchy. It conjures the image of a fierce feminine rebellion.

Luckily Kristie Webster, the editor, felt the same way about my work as I do about the magazine. Which has led to an interview with me!


We talk about what my work means, the message I want to send, what i'm working on, and my dreams.

There is a lot of cool people in this issue: photographers, artists, fashion designers, and overall rad ladies.

Giant Robot - the Year of the Dragon

I'm excited every time i get into a show, but I truly get shocked every time I see the flyers for two reasons. 1. Hey look, there's my name! 2. Look who I get to show with!

My dragon girl is the largest watercolor i've ever made! Go to the show and check it out if you're near LA! There will be plenty of amazing art. Wish I could be there!

One day i'll be everywhere

This past week my art has been featured four times!



1. "Prankster" made the front page of Hi-Fructose's website! Extremely flattered & grateful to have been the face of Giant Robot's Printed Matter show. Especially being on the same place as my heroes. Psst, I have a Hi-Fructose addiction!

2. "Sugar Haze" made it's way over to the other side of the globe on CURVY's round up about Eye Candy!

3. Kaylah from the Dainty Squid included "Is it really love in her eyes?" on her Friday Favorites! Her blog is so adorable: her quirky outfits, mushroom hunting, and vintage finds. I read it quite regularly.

4. Last but definitely not least, "Young Eyes" was featured by JL Schnabel on Blood Milk. She regularly posts art mysterious, macabre, muted, and monochromatic. So flattering that'd she'd post something so colorful. (I've kind of been silently haunting her blog for a long time!)

Her surreal jewelry is incredible! Took my breath away when I first saw it. Definitely worth your time to look.

Hunger

Feeling giddier than a school girl and smiling wider than a Chesire cat! Gladly fit in this tiny drawing measuring at 3.5x5 inches between my other projects. I've got work lined up for a while, and gears turning in my brain thinking about future projects.

The pre-order went pretty well! So thank you to everyone for the support! You can still place an order, i'll get as many prints created as I can. They should be in my hands in about a week!

Giant Robot - Printed Matter

Hey Guys if you're near LA you'd better be at this show!



I've got three prints being sold at Giant Robot's show: Printed Matter. It's super exciting because it's my first show with them and this show is to kick off their new space. They expanded the gallery area! Which means more shows, more art!

There's a lot of cool artists in this show (that I get to show alongside of!) Some cool peeps being: APAK, Ines Estrada, Michael Hsiung, David Choe, and Deth P. Sun!

So go and be amazed! Let your eyeballs be full of sparkles and rainbows.

Did I mention i've got THREE NEW PRINTS premiering there? It's cash and carry, so you can have it as soon as you pay. Super affordable on my end too!

The show ends on Jan 25th, but i bet all the prints disappear pretty quickly. If there are any left, i think they'll be putting a few online.

Been kinda busy around here; everything is picking up pace. Not that I mind! I'm really excited! I'll have official posts and more news later.

For now I should mention I was having a sale. It was originally for tumblr, however I forgot to cancel out the coupon code. I'm canceling it when i wake up this afternoon, in about 6 or 7 hours. On being "dreamy"

I'm an adult and I still draw. Often enough i get called dreamy, unrealistic, and naive. If being strong willed enough to pursue my dreams and write my own story is all those things, i'll take it.

Most of us draw and paint when we're kids. We're told we can be anything we want to. But as we get older we're told to be realistic and aim for something stable. I still believe I can be whatever I want, i believe you can too!

I'd rather live a wild rollercoaster of a life than to wake up when i'm 30 or 40 and wonder what I did with my life/ youth. Wonder if working for a stable paycheck was worth selling my life for. Ditch the mid life crisis and fight for the life i crave.

I won't lie. 2011 was probably the toughest year of my life. But I regret nothing. Sometimes not knowing how I would eat or pay bills. But in the end I pushed my limits and things are looking up. I have faith that i'll be able to support myself fully from my art at sometime next year.

I'd like to thank all my friends, fans, fellow artists (who i love more than you know), and anyone else i'm forgetting that most likely helped me in some way. I'm going to spend this last day drawing and being in the company of good people. Hope you have a good new year.

Work hard, believe in yourself, and stay humble.

Oh, babe!

I've been more motivated than ever this past month, and I hope the work ethic train just keeps getting better! I've been concentrating on art mostly and see big things happening in a not so distant future!

Prankster and the prints

There seems to be an echo around the internet lately. Are people disappearing as the holidays are approaching?

I promise this won't be the last drawing of 2011. I'm going to keep cranking these out. The best gifts anyone could give me is their attention, support, kind words, showing their friends, and/or ordering a portrait. I do those you know.

Lastly, i'm running low on prints. So please snap them up so I can print some new ones for you guys!

Bitchin' Bird

The future is looking pretty damn exciting! Uncertain, but full of potential! We write our own stories.

Making art super often has had a huge uplift in my general mood. So has the upswing in traffic. It's influenced me to keep up this pace!

Which strangely led me into meeting some pretty awesome artists (and other people). Resulting in some good news: I'll be participating in Printed Matter next month at Giant Robot (in motherfuckin' LA!)

So excited! I've also been considering putting up some of my newer originals up for sale next month. For those of you who have been asking.

Nothing worth celebrating

I watched Pulp fiction twice within the past week. Each time I watch it I pick up something different. This was inspired by the colors in the diner scene with Uma Thurman and John Travolta. Red walls and a neon ice cream sign. I believe it said EAT.

Yum!

Also: I want to serve you guys better! I've been thinking of introducing a new lower priced print line. It'd be done on glossy stock paper.

Would you be interesting in purchasing these? Are there any images you're dying to buy as a print? I'd love to make some new ones! (Especially Burger Love, Sweet Tooth, and maybe Countess de Breakfast.)
