Move on

You crave it, fear it, wish for the best and then take a huge leap. You finally arrive and for a while it's absolute bliss. Before you realize it, it's lost it's luster and your cravings have changed. You've changed.

Or it simply wasn't what you imagined.

It's okay. Make new plans. Get excited! Alter your course and keep on living.

I'm incredibly thankful to have been invited to participate in the Draw show at Auguste Clown Gallery. They're an awesome Low Brow/ Pop Surrealist gallery in Melbourne, Australia. (My first international show!) Having showed loads of fantastic artists like Mark Ryden, Tara McPherson, Charlie Immer, Dan May, Maria Rozalia Finna and a whole lot more!

Welcome back home

I just made the move back to Etsy. A place that feels like home: community, lots of helpful features for buyer and seller, fun place to spend time looking at goodies.

Big Cartel is nice and I have no regrets. You have to take big risks to try things out. Even if it doesn't work out you'll finally know and have learned something!

Post its show at Giant Robot 2!

 

This year I got invited to Giant Robot's Post-its show! There's quite a few post-its of mine there. I'm so fucking thankful to be working with GR. They put on such amazing shows and i'll be showing along artists i admire. Coming full circle!

As some of you know i originally wanted to be a fashion designer (long story how i wound up here). Artists like Audrey Kawasaki and Stella Im Hultberg made me decide that if I went into art I could make it. Seven years later! BAM!

The show opening is tonight and will be open until the 16th! But don't wait too long because all the good ones will be taken first. There is a line queueing outside Giant Robot as I type!

For those of you wondering, yes I'm still on break. It's been a wonderful month of contemplation and I'll still be taking more time. But I'll be back around January with a vengeance! xo

You don't own me

If you ever meet me and ask me what my paintings mean i will silently pause. I will studder and babble. I have a hard time articulating art into speech.

Turning the impossible into images? Great! Articulating things into written words? Sure!

So if you ask i will most likely say: "It's up to interpretation. No answer is wrong." But never doubt that I have good intentions. Art about struggle and triumph. About self empowerment and bringing our dreams into reality.

If there is something you've been putting off until the "right time" let me tell you something. There is no perfect time and you can always find an excuse. Start now, work hard, and your dreams will happen sooner.

We're all just figuring it out and making it up as we go along. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. xo

First Love

Watching cartoons was a huge part of my childhood. Sitting in front of the television with my brother watching flashing colors in awe while devouring technicolor cereals. I was and am equally amazed by a great cartoon or a fine art painting. Whatever fine art really means these days.

I'm really esctatic and greatful to be a part of Moon Power, a Sailor Moon art zine! A lot of talented folks were asked to take part in it. So here's my submission!

Not too long ago Olivia Mew created the Stay Home Club which mainly features artist designed pillowcases. When i kept seeing promo for it my jaw dropped and my heart swelled, i'm so fucking excited i've been invited to be a part of it!

the Tawdry Teapot

This illustration was created for two super rad ladies of the Tawdry Teapot. They only really wanted two things. A teapot with their name, and a lady inspired by Divine. And as i'm practically a Baltimore native, i was (am) elated! Who doesn't love Divine?!

Nerves

Nerves. As in a bundle of. and of steel. You can be hesitant and afraid yet still kick some ass! Being fearless isn't the lack of fear, but acknowledging the feeling. Having lunch with it and telling it to go fuck off! Do what you want to do deep down anyway.

Go kick some ass! Want something bad enough, work hard enough, you'll get it.

Whenever people share my work or reach out to me i'm so damn happy. There was a day when I was afraid to fully express myself. To let all the bizarre and strangely erotic tendencies show. I'm glad to share my mind with you!

You're amazing and I hope you let yourself loose if you haven't already. There are people who will appreciate your weirdness i swear. And those that don't can kiss your ass! Seriously! Only keep people who love you around, you'll feel a miiiillion times better. xo

(Pssst, thanks Jeff! You're super rad and have awesome taste. That statement isn't biased, I swear. *cough*)
